IE8 VS Firefox 3.5

Before 2005, when we are browsing internet, most of the people are using Internet Explorer by Microsoft, because most of the people only know Internet Explorer. In that time, IE having the big market of web browser, Microsoft think that he is the big boss so they still providing IE6 from 2001. But in 2005, a new web browser-Mozilla Firefox come out, and it change the thought of Microsoft, make Microsoft realize their browser market reduce because of Firefox, so they finally published IE7 2005.

When we browsing internet,some webpage always pop-up annoying advertisement, in this test, there are 27 webpage which content a pop-up page, both IE8 and Firefox failed from bloking two pop-up.

I runed the test on my computer with IE8 and Firefox3.5,here is the result:

Now, more and more website are using javascript to improve the performance of the website, but when the website using many javascript, the browser need to waste some time to process it.
V8 Benchmark Test is a test page develop by Google for testing the performance of JavaScript of the browser,the higher mark the better speed.

6.Memory Usage

Sometime, when we browsing website, we will open many webpage at the same time, but opening too many webpage will make our computer lagging. From the table we can see, Firefox are using lesser usage than IE8, when opening 5 webpage, IE8 need 270MB of memory.

From the table we can see, the market share of IE8 are increasing every month, but the Firefox start dropping from January 2010, it is because on 21 January 2010, the Firefox3.6 is published ,and most user are updated to Firefox3.6.

IE8=1,Firefox=6
Although Firefox is a junior of IE, but from the day Firefox birth, it keep updating to fix bugs of the software and improve functionality, and now it become better than IE. However, IE is still having the big market of web browser 'now', maybe users haven't prepare for change.Renferences:
